Purpose and
Function
Designed to transform existing E27 lamp fixtures, each Seed introduces variation in form while preserving the function of the original fixture.
Its open structure alters the way light is diffused, creating a balance between illumination, shadow, and transparency.
Form and
Origin.
Each form combines a parametrically defined base with a digitally generated structure.
The base establishes the object's proportions and function, while the generated form introduces complexity.
Together, they create a balance between deliberate geometric design and organic computational growth.
- Designed and printed in-house.
Light and
Diffusion.
The open structure allows light to pass through while diffusing the direct light source.
The off-white material softens the emitted light, while the geometry creates changing patterns of shadow and transparency.

Instructions and
Compatibility.
VBY.G0S0-21 is designed to revive an existing lamp rather than replace it.

Material and
Method.
The 3D printing process allows complex geometries to emerge directly from digital design.
It minimizes material waste while enabling structures that conventional manufacturing methods struggle to reproduce.
The resulting forms are printed layer by layer from high-quality recycled filament selected for its natural tone and surface quality. A larger nozzle size exposes the layered structure of the production process, embracing the texture.
The material is a recycled bioplastic coloured with natural pigments derived from organic sources such as red algae. Because these pigments originate from living matter, subtle tonal differences occur between pieces.
The material has an approximately 50% lower reported CO₂ impact than standard PLA filament.
Seed Selector.
A digitally generated structure grown over defined base geometry according to generation parameters, with each Seed resulting in a unique form.
Each Seed is produced once. Once sold, its geometry is archived permanently.

Generative Approach.
Rather than producing identical objects, the deterministic generative system allows variation to emerge within defined constraints. This produces distinct forms while maintaining consistency in function, and manufacturability.
Each form develops according to the parameters of its generation. Once growth is complete, geometries that prove too fragile or unsuitable for production are removed, while viable Seeds are approved for manufacturing.
When a generation sells out, parameters are adjusted and a new generation is digitally grown, creating an evolving selection over time.
Testing and
Prototyping.
The design was refined through iterative testing of geometry, growth parameters, materials, and production settings. Recycled and bio-based materials were evaluated for colour, texture, translucency, and print behaviour.
